Anthem BCBS Dental Insurance

My team and I want you to know that we are an in-network provider with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) plans. As your dental provider, I’ve negotiated pre-set rates with Anthem BCBS that allow you to save money on a number of necessary dental services including dental cleanings and exams, x-rays, dental crowns and dentures. After you’ve satisfied the deductible on your plan and fulfilled the copay requirement, you pay nothing more.
How Dental Insurance Works with an Anthem BCBS PPO Plan
The process begins after you purchase an Anthem BCBS dental insurance plan and start to pay your premiums. Then, most preventive care is covered immediately. More involved procedures, such as fillings, crowns, root canal or dentures are partially covered after you meet your deductible; you pay your percentage of the cost for one of these services and Anthem BCBS pays the rest.
In addition, your plan may have an out-of-pocket maximum that protects you from high costs during a calendar year. In this case, if you reach the maximum, Anthem BCBS pays the entire cost of any additional care until you reach your annual maximum benefit.
Dental Insurance Basics
While your Anthem BCBS (PPO) plan may differ slightly from your neighbor’s or colleague’s, they do have several characteristics in common. These include:
A Deductible.This is the amount of money you’ll need to spend before your Anthem BCBS coverage begins to pay.
Copays and Coinsurance. The relatively small amount of money you must pay at the time of service for any covered procedure. Anthem BCBS pays the rest.
Out-of-Pocket Maximum. If you reach your out-of-pocket maximum, Anthem BCBS covers the remainder of your expenses until you reach your annual maximum benefit.
Expiration. Dental benefits typically expire after a specified period of time, usually from January 1 through December 31 of any given calendar year. Benefits do not roll over from one year to the next.
