TMJ/TMD Therapy

Your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is located on either side of your head, just in front of the ear; it’s what connects your lower jaw to the rest of your skull. If you develop a recurring pain in your face, neck, or head, or if you constantly experience severe headaches and a stiff jaw, it could be a sign of a TMJ disorder, or TMD. This painful condition could have any number of underlying causes, including physical trauma, jaw misalignment, bruxism (grinding and clenching of the teeth), poor posture, and arthritis. At Downtown Family Dental of Leesburg, we’ll perform a thorough oral examination and bite assessment to find the root of your TMD. Once we’ve done so, Dr. Phamcan help you explore options for treatment to stop the pain, such as a customized oral appliance or physical therapy.

Sleep Apnea Therapy

Tired woman with head in hands

Sleep apnea is a disorder where a person temporarily stops breathing multiple times throughout the night, drastically lowering their sleep quality. This can lead to chronic exhaustion and loud snoring that disturbs bed partners, but thankfully, our dental office can offer a reliable solution that will literally fit in your pocket. We can give a tired patient a custom-made mouthguard that will help them breathe better while sleeping, plus it will make them stop snoring, ensuring everyone enjoys quality rest night after night.

Sedation Dentistry

Relaxed patient receiving dental treatment

Our entire team works very hard to create an excellent patient care experience. We are very skilled at administering local anesthesia and can provide nitrous oxide and/or pre-medication to reduce anxiety so that you feel more relaxed during your visits. Our goal is that you do not experience any discomfort during your procedures, and we take great pride in achieving this.

Intraoral Cameras

Dentist and patient looking at intraoral images

Our intraoral cameras make routine exams anything but routine, as they allow us to capture high-definition images of your entire oral cavity and display them on a monitor right in the treatment room. This helps our team easily find the initial signs of potential problems so we can take care of them right away, plus you’ll instantly gain a deeper understanding of your oral health and dental needs, taking some of the mystery (and anxiety!) out of your care.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays on tablet computer

We use X-rays every single day in our dental office to look at the teeth and jawbone hidden beneath the gum line, and to make this part of our diagnostic process as effective as possible, we’ve gone fully digital. Compared to traditional film X-rays, digital X-rays create sharper images, take much less time to do so, and they even emit 90% less radiation as well. Plus, we can quickly show a patient their own X-rays so they can stay fully informed about what is going on with their smile.
